Three Tennessee football players, including four-star linebacker signee Aaron Willis, were arrested this week on preliminary misdemeanor drug possession charges after an incident that occurred Tuesday night at Stokely Hall.

ESPN was the first to report that Willis, defensive tackle signee Isaac Washington and linebacker Martavius French, a four-star signee in 2020, were arrested along with two other individuals who are not on the football team.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel reported that a witness told university police that a roommate answered the door and was assaulted by one male, while three or four other males entered the apartment. The other males then went into another room and took several items belonging to the individual who answered the door.

ESPN reported that the incident was originally classified as an assault and burglary.

"We are aware of an incident that occurred at Stokely Hall involving football student-athletes," the university said late Friday afternoon through a released statement. "The individuals involved in the incident have been suspended indefinitely from football activities pending further review of the matter by the university."

Willis, a 5-foot-11, 207-pounder from Colonial Heights, Virginia, became Tennessee's highest-rated member of its 2021 signing class after outside linebacker Dylan Brooks of Roanoke, Alabama, received an unconditional release from his national letter of intent and then enrolled at Auburn. Brooks received his release from Tennessee last month.

Washington is a 6-3, 285-pounder from Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, who was rated a three-star prospect. French, a 6-2, 240-pounder from Memphis Whitehaven, did not play as a freshman this past season.
