The nationally 10th-ranked Chattanooga State softball team has a secondary goal Tuesday morning in the NJCAA Region VII tournament.

The host and top-seeded Lady Tigers (49-8) play at 10 against fifth seed Cleveland State (28-22), which split a four-game series with them in the regular season. Chatt State lost only one other TCCAA game and used an eight-run fifth inning to beat ninth seed Motlow 12-5 in the tournament Monday.

Cleveland State earned the rematch with a nine-inning 7-6 win Sunday over Dyersburg State.

Cleveland State followed Monday night in baseball with a 10-9 upset of third seed and nationally No. 17 Dyersburg. No. 2 seed Chattanooga State began its scheduled 7:30 baseball game against Roane State two hours late. The winner faces Cleveland's Cougars at 7:30 Tuesday; the loser takes on Dyersburg at 1.

Avery Collins was 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Cougars (29-22), and Bryce Burkey and Hunter Gray each batted in two runs also. Kameron Johnson and Pierre Seals each drove in two runs for Dyersburg (38-12).

Nationally top-ranked Walters State (52-5) and Columbia State also won in baseball, 12-4 over Southwest Tennessee and 9-2 over Motlow.
