Area Sports Notes: Chattanooga FC hosting New Orleans Jesters

The Chattanooga Football Club will host the New Orleans Jesters in a National Premier Soccer League game tonight at 7:30 at Finley Stadium, and a fireworks show will follow. CFC is 1-0-1 in league play and coming off a 1-1 draw Wednesday against Asheville City in which the local club played a man down from late in the first half. The CFC women (1-0) play Alabama FC at 7 tonight in Columbus, Georgia.

Golf

' The fourth round of the NAIA women's golf national tournament at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, was wiped out by bad weather Friday, leaving it as a 54-hole event and No. 2-ranked Dalton State in fourth place at 940. Top-ranked SCAD Savannah won at 909. DSC's Tia Teiniketo tied for fourth individually at 229, Katie Dalton tied for 22nd at 235, Isabel Rijos shared 31st at 237 and Caroline Griffin tied for 40th at 239.

Track & Field

' Lee University twins Josiah and Justin Brooks had the third and fifth best times in the men's 200-meter preliminaries Friday in the NCAA Division II national track and field meet at Charlotte and will race in the final today. Justin also is in the 400 final today after qualifying fifth Thursday, and Josiah will compete in the triple jump. Lee's Audrey Smith tripped and did not finish the 3000 steeplechase final Friday night; she's in the 5000 tonight. Emily Buwalda was 11th in the 800 prelims, missing today's final by just over a second.

Baseball

' East Tennessee State sophomore Cade Gilbert from Ringgold was 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and senior Hunter Parker from East Hamilton and Chattanooga State was 1-for-2 with an RBI single and two runs scored Friday in the Southern Conference baseball tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, but the Buccaneers' late rally could not prevent a season-ending 11-8 loss to Western Carolina. ETSU finished 28-25.
