The winner will join 15 other teams at Decatur, Ala., for the Nov. 28-Dec. 3 final rounds. Led by 2010 national player of the year Jamie Achten, coach Matt Yelton's Lee Lady Flames are 18-2 and third-seeded but ranked second in the nation behind two-time national champion Lindsey Wilson (17-0-2), which hosts Roberts Wesleyan today in Columbia, Ky.

• OAKLAND CITY, Ind. -- Tyler Morrison scored three goals and Chris Pifer netted a penalty kick as Covenant College beat Asbury 4-2 in the National Christian College Athletic Association Mid-East men's soccer regional Friday. Coach Nate Pifer's Scots (8-9-2) got assists from Gordon Carpenter, Ryan Parr, Johnny Frame, Todd Fleming and Garrison Dale and 13 saves by John Eger in the victory, which puts them in today's 2:30 final for a trip to the NCCAA Division I nationals.

Softball

• Grace Academy's Lexie Dean signed softball scholarship papers Friday with Lee University. "The first time I went up there was a little over a month ago," Dean said. "I just saw the campus and fell in love with it. I really like the fact that everything is so beautiful." Dean, a left-hander, has played mostly first base in recent seasons with the Lady Golden Eagles but has played some outfield, which she's expecting to play for Lee coach Emily Russell, a Grace graduate. Last spring Dean batted .512 and had a 26-game hitting streak, stole 31 bases and scored 55 runs. She had 12 extra-base hits, an area where she's looking to be more productive. "She's a triple threat," Grace coach Tina Walker said. "She can drop a bunt down and be on base before they can get it. She can slap, and even though I know she wants to improve in that area, she hits for power. She is strong. She just wants to be more consistent. I think she'll fit right in. Emily likes to use speed, but she also likes having people who can drive the ball. I think Lexie can be one of their top hitters from the very start." Dean said Lee's nursing program influenced her choice. She plans to major in health sciences.
