Chattanooga's oldest active road race is gearing up for its 49th annual running with an infusion of local energy.

Race directors announced the Chattanooga Chase: 8k and 1 Mile Road Race on Monday.

The race is scheduled for May 30, which is Memorial Day. Participants in the 8k will run through the hills of North Shore while runners in the one mile race will go through the neighborhood adjacent to Chattanooga Golf and Country Club.

The Chattanooga Track Club announced the event, which is being presented by Fast Break Athletics and Chattanooga Whiskey.

"It's really exciting to be working with the Track Club to put on this year's Chattanooga Chase," Fast Break Athletics owner Alan Outlaw said in a release. "It's a great example of our community getting involved but also honoring the rich running heritage that we have.

The race is also sponsored by Rock/Creek, Good Dog and the Chattanooga Brewing Company.

Registration is open at chattanoogachase2016.com. Race proceeds are going to the track club's elementary cross country league, according to the release.
