» Wild turkey hunting season: Through May 12 (shotgun/archery) in Tennessee, 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset; through May 15 in Georgia.

» Soddy-Daisy chapter of Tennessee Trails Association hikes: Saturday, Roaring Creek to Gilbreath Branch & back, moderately strenuous 9.2 miles (meet at 8:30 a.m. at Durham Street parking lot in Soddy-Daisy; call Tom McElhone at 805-208-4654); Tuesday, Ritchie Hollow Trail, easy to moderate 4 miles, beginning at Pot Point Cabin (meet at 8:30 a.m. at Walmart parking lot on Signal Mountain Road, where it borders the old railroad tracks; call Trish Appleton at 423-332-6517 or 423-240-3443); April 27, Frozen Head State Park, Bird Mountain Trail, hard 7.1 miles (meet at 8:30 a.m. at Durham Street lot; call John Politte at 805-208-4654); May 4, Piney River from Shutin Gap Road picnic ground to bridge & back, 5-plus miles (meet at 8:30 a.m. at Durham Street lot; call McElhone at 805-208-4654).
