Lookout Mountain Trail Races: Saturday, from Covenant College, 7:30 a.m. for 50- and 18-mile options, 8 a.m. for 10k; part of Wild Trails Race Series; $115, $75 & $55. See wildtrails.org.

Wauhatchie Trail Race: Saturday, Reflection Riding, staggered start by gender & age group, beginning with females 80-older at 9:30 a.m., males 25-29 last group at 10:15; first person to finish wins; hilly 6.7 miles on lower slopes of Lookout Mountain; each participant urged to recycle an item for the prize table (doesn't have to be running-related). Soddy-Daisy chapter of Tennessee Trails Association hike: Dec. 28, moderate 5.5 miles to Small Wilds campsite & back via climber's loop (meet at 8:30 a.m. at Food City in Red Bank; call Tom McElhone at 805-208-4654).

Chattanooga Ski Club meeting: Jan. 7, 7 p.m., Enclave subdivision clubhouse, 950 Channel View Lane; discussions of the winter ski race season at resorts in North Carolina & West Virginia as well as snow ski/board trips to Colorado, Utah, Banff (Canada) & Switzerland/Scotland.
