Scottsboro High School eighth-grader Bo Nix ties Trammell record

Scottsboro High School eighth-grader Bo Nix tied a school record that had gone untouched since 1956 in the Wildcats' first-round Class 5A football playoff game last week.

They lost the game with Clay-Chalkville, 85-50.

While he completed just eight passes, five of them went for touchdowns, which ties a record set by Pat Trammell, the three-time All-American who led Alabama to a national championship in 1961. Trammell hit the five-TD mark twice while at Scottsboro, the first time in 1955 against Oneonta and the second in 1956 against Fort Payne.

Also in that game Friday, four of Nix's TD passes went to junior receiver Malik Talley. That also was a Scottsboro record, bettering by one the old mark held by several players.

Nix is the son of Wildcats coach Patrick Nix.

The combined 135 points in the game was the third most in an Alabama high school game and the most ever scored in an Alabama playoff game.
