The McCallie School baseball team will host Howard in a 5:30 p.m. game today that will serve as a fundraiser for the visitors' revived program. There is no admission charge, but donations will be encouraged at the gate and all the proceeds will go to the Hustlin' Tigers, according to a news release. Money raised through concessions will go to Howard as well. "The work done by Coach (Jon) Johnson and his players to resurrect baseball at Howard has been nothing short of amazing," McCallie coach Tim Costo said in the release. "Monday's game is about welcoming back the Tigers to the baseball community while getting a chance to help out their program and promote the game of baseball." Howard has a diamond team for the first time in seven years, and players, coaches and community volunteers put in a lot of work to get the Tigers' long-neglected ballfield playable. Publicity about their efforts led businesses and others, including McCallie's grounds crew, to help with equipment and labor.

- Tennessee Wesleyan University's baseball team, ranked sixth in the NAIA, pulled out a 4-0 win Saturday in its Appalachian Athletic Conference series at Reinhardt after losing 1-0 on Friday and 4-1 in the doubleheader opener. Alfred Cruz was 2-for-3 and scored the run in Saturday's loss. Reinhardt is 32-16, 12-9.

Track & Field

- Several members of the Lee University track and field teams had some impressive showings in a largely NCAA Division I field this past weekend in the 59th annual Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, Calif. It began with Christian Noble's eighth-place, school-record time of 8:56.93 in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase. He was the second Division II finisher, and his time was the fifth-fastest in D-II this season. The next day, the Flames' Justin Brooks was fourth in the 400 in the eighth-best D-II time of 2017 (47.31), Harold Smith was fifth in the 800 with the year's No. 7 D-II time (1:50.44), Josiah Brooks was sixth in the triple jump and Adrian Martin ran the ninth-fastest D-II women's 100 (11.85).

Lacrosse

- The Sewanee men's lacrosse team finished the regular season with a 14-6 win against Hendrix in Southern Athletic Association competition Sunday in Conway, Ark. Sewanee led 4-1 after the first quarter, but that output flipped in the second quarter to send the match to halftime tied before the Tigers pulled away with a 5-1 third quarter. Kip McGuire scored three goals and had two ground balls to pace Sewanee (8-6), while Hayden Hunt and Thomas Lynde each added two goals - Hunt with an assist and four ground balls - and Jimmy Parker had two assists and two ground balls. Ryan Stubits was 9-for-11 and Cason Liles 8-for-12 on faceoffs, and Selby Austin made 12 saves. The Tigers will be seeded second when they begin play in the SAA tournament April 28 at Rhodes College in Memphis, taking on the winner of a matchup between Berry and Centre.
