Head coach: Josh Robinson (53-33 in eight seasons here and overall)

Returning starters: 3 offensive; 8 defensive

Key players: DE Chase Humble (6-2, 200); DT Zach Costlow (6-2, 280); WR-DB Matthew Redmond (5-9, 150); WR Ethan Enzley (6-2, 190); WR Ray Morrison (6-1, 160); WR Preston Nealey (6-1, 190); WR Callen Nealey (6-1, 160).

Team strengths: The defensive front seven are stout, led by speedy end Humble and run-stuffer Costlow. The receiving corps is young but talented.

Team concerns: With eight new starters the offense is likely to struggle early. When one of them is a freshman quarterback, the concern level grows. The Bruins have a nice group of receivers, but someone needs to take the lead at running back.

Breakout candidate: Redmond is likely to rarely come off the field. He will start at receiver and defensive back, return kicks and punts and hold for place-kicks. Oh, the junior is also the backup quarterback.

Season outlook: As a coach who has cut his chops on the defensive side of the ball, Robinson is excited for the 2019 season. That's a good thing for the dean of Region 6-AAAA coaches.

The offensive side? Well, as Robinson knows, patience is a virtue.

"We have eight new starters on offense," he said. "Our quarterback will be an incoming freshman (Owen Booker). We also have a lot of inexperienced juniors who will start. Any time you have that inexperience, you are never really sure how they are going to respond."

If the Bruins can keep turnovers to a minimum and make good use of a solid receiving corps, the defense should keep the Bruins in games. With Humble and Costlow up front and a versatile linebacking group, this could be one of Robinson's best units.

"Our inside linebackers can be really good, and our line will be one of the best in the region," Robinson said. "Really, if we can take care of the ball - and we know there are going to be turnovers - we can work our way into a playoff spot."
