Coming off the season-opening weekend, the first Associated Press prep football Tennessee state rankings were released Monday afternoon. Notre Dame is the only Chattanooga-area team to be ranked No. 1 in any classification.

After beating Central 27-6 on Friday, the Fighting Irish, who return 14 starters from last year's state quarterfinal team, are ranked atop the Division II-AA poll.

McCallie (Division II-AAA) and South Pittsburg (1A) are ranked No. 2 in their respective classifications, while Red Bank (3A) and Meigs County (2A) are ranked No. 3. Tyner debuts at No. 4 in 2A, East Hamilton at No. 9 in 4A and Bradley Central at No. 10 in 6A, despite a tough loss to seventh-ranked Farragut. Last year's 1A state champion Whitwell came in at No. 8 despite having lost both its games last week.

The complete Top 10s are on page D2.
