Hixson High School senior Christian Crowe recently signed to continue his basketball career at Bryan College.

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 20.6 points per game and hit at least one 3-point basket in all 18 starts this past season. He made seven 3s while scoring a career-high 36 points against Ooltewah.

"I basically lived in the Hixson gym this past offseason," Crowe said. "I also worked on building my confidence, character and mental side of my game. I prepared my mind to lose games, how to handle success and how to be patient and listen to others when they critiqued or challenged me. God helps give me the strength and hope to push through."

The Christian college in Dayton gives him a platform to display his faith as well as his love for the game.

"This is a dream come true," Crowe said. "Basketball is a safe haven to me and a second home. I will always remember the reason why I play. I am excited about the path I am on, because I feel like I am going to succeed greatly."

Steele a Lady Tiger

Sale Creek middle hitter Madysun Steele has signed to play volleyball for Chattanooga State after helping the Lady Panthers finish fourth, fifth and second in the Class A state tournament the past three seasons.

She was the district MVP in 2017 and an all-region and Best of Preps honoree the past two years, and she had 522 kills, 273 digs and 73 blocks as a senior. According to a Lady Tigers release, she also plays for the Scenic City club team that won the Mason Dixon, Unleash the Beast and Battleground Explosion Silver Division tournament titles in 2018.

Steele has been her class representative the past two years.

Cougar Kiemeyer

Another recent area college signee from a local high school is East Hamilton runner Jacob Kiemeyer, headed to Cleveland State. His best cross country 5-kilometer time is 17 minutes, 12 seconds.

"He has worked hard to get to this point, and I expect a lot more from Jacob in college," Hurricanes coach David Kelman said on the Cleveland State website of the new Cougar. "This is just the beginning for him."

Kiemeyer seemed to agree.

"Cleveland State has a quickly developing program with some great runners," he said. "The school gives me the opportunity to progress as a runner and potentially continue my athletic career at the next level."
