Cleveland High School sophomore golfer Hannah Nall did not let a slow start persist at the TSSAA Division I Large Class Girls' Championship.

Taking a while to warm up on a chilly Tuesday in Manchester at the par-72 WillowBrook Golf Club - where she finished 13th in the state last year - Nall found her form.

Shaking off a rough start to the day on the back nine, the district and region champion for the Lady Raiders began her bounce-back with a birdie on No. 18 and shot 1 over par through her final 10 holes.

Nall carded an 82 and is tied for 20th heading into today's final round. Station Camp's Lynn Lim leads by two strokes at 1-under 71 after finishing as the state runner-up at 4 under last season.

In the boys' tournament, East Hamilton's Matthew Ott started off hot and was even through his first eight holes but wound up at 81 and is tied for 34th. He and Nall each birdied three times.

Volunteer's Jon Wes Lovelace led all on day one with a 68. He also has a two-stroke lead.

The weather forecast called for rain overnight and temperatures in the low 40s this morning.
