Dalton High School running back Jahmyr Gibbs is the top-rated college football prospect in the Chattanooga area for the 2020 recruiting cycle, listed at 75th nationally in the 247Sports.com composite rankings.

Gibbs has been committed to Georgia Tech since last May and is scheduled to visit Atlanta this weekend, ahead of the traditional national signing day next Wednesday.

McCallie School defensive tackle Jay Hardy, who signed with Auburn in December, is ranked No. 100, giving this area two 247Sports top-100 prospects for the first time.

Some years have certainly been more bountiful than others, as this look back at the area's top annual signees will reveal, with Gerald Riggs Jr., Adarius Bowman, Demonte Bolden, Chris Keys and Jacques McClendon giving the Chattanooga region five top-100 prospects in a row from 2002 to 2006.

It also should be noted that the lowest-rated player on this list, former East Hamilton cornerback Tre Herndon, racked up 55 tackles and three interceptions and started 14 of 16 games this season for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars.
