Prep roundup: McCallie opens basketball season with home win

Balanced scoring led McCallie to a 52-42 home win against Central in its basketball season opener Wednesday night.

The Blue Tornado scored 26 points in each half while led by the trio of David Craig (18 points), Wilson Rankin (13) and Trey Hamilton (12).

Donovin Taylor's 14 points and Kenneth Steward's 13 led the Purple Pounders.

McMinn Central 60, Silverdale Baptist Academy 57: After trailing by three points going into the fourth quarter of Tuesday night's game, the Chargers rallied to outscore the Seahawks 24-8 and grab the win.

Darius Carden led McMinn Central with 15 points, while Silverdale Baptist was led by Brett Wright's game-high 21 points and Owen Neil's 17.
