Due to the projected rainfall from Tropical Storm Zeta expected to hit the Murfreesboro area on Wednesday and Thursday, and the resulting likelihood of unplayable conditions at the Richard Siegel Complex, the TSSAA announced on Monday that it will be postponing the girls' state soccer tournament.
The tournament will now be held on Friday, Oct. 30, through Monday, Nov. 2, at the Richard Siegel Complex. The Division I (public school) teams will play their quarterfinal round on Friday, with the semifinals on Saturday and championship games on Monday. Division II, which has a smaller number of teams that qualify for the state tournament, will play its semifinals on Saturday and finals on Sunday.
Signal Mountain, which has won the past two Class A state titles, will open against McKenzie on Friday at 2:30, while McMinn County will face Bearden in the AAA quarterfinals at 5 and in AA, East Hamilton plays Seymour at 8. In Division II-AA, unbeaten GPS will take on Brentwood Academy on Sunday at 5.
Per the TSSAA COVID-19 guidelines, ticket sales will be restricted to 1/3 capacity, which amounts to 200 tickets sold per match for all quarterfinal and semifinal games. Championship matches will be restricted to 667 tickets per game.
