Mary Fillauer knew exactly where she was going with the ball.

Notre Dame High School's senior setter sent crisp feeds in the perfect spot, high and to the left side of the net where McKenna Brown provided the thunder with booming hits.

Brown was unstoppable late as she sprayed the ball all over the floor at the feet of defenders for nine of her match-high 20 kills in the fourth and final set to defeat a tough Silverdale Baptist Academy team in Division II-A District 2 play Tuesday night.

"It is nice to have someone who can get hot at any point and completely take over a match," Notre Dame coach Dan Clotfelter said about Brown, who has 20 kills each in all five matches for 100 on the season. "McKenna did that tonight. The great thing is that we had a lot of people contributing, so when she caught fire we were already ready to roll."

Notre Dame (4-1, 2-0) trailed 21-20 in the second set but was given a major spark by Beth Voges and Emmeline Crisp, who had powerful kills to close the second and third sets. Voges' defense was crucial in the win as she registered half a dozen blocks to help her team rally back for set victories by the scores of 25-22, 25-11 and 25-14.

Brown and Lindsay Burns combined for seven Notre Dame aces, while Fillauer had six kills and 30 assists.

"We are doing really well and know it takes all of us working together," said Brown, who played well on the back row with 15 digs. "We were really close against Baylor, and that was exciting. We are all really excited to be playing and hope we can make noise and make a run to the state tournament."

Silverdale's Savannah Williams and Ashlee Kugler also starred in Tuesday's match. Williams had 14 kills while Kugler finished with 33 assists, 15 digs and three aces.
