Bodie Terry had himself quite the night at the ballpark.
The Sequatchie County senior left a major mark in Monday's 12-1 road victory over Cumberland County. Terry went 4-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in. He also delivered a complete game on the mound where he had eight strikeouts and did not allow an earned run over seven innings in which he allowed just five singles.
The Indians (6-7-1) improved to 3-0 in District 7-AA as Ethan Seals drove in a pair in a four-run first inning. Other standouts for coach Derrin Easterly's squad - which made a run to the state semifinals in 2019 - included Griffin Hall (three runs scored), Logan Potts (2-for-4, two runs) and Tyler Lynn (2-for-3, RBI).
* Ooltewah 9, East Hamilton 8: The Owls plated six runs in the bottom of the fourth to help hold off their District 5-AAA rivals. Fisher Perry homered and scored three runs, while Donavan Mackaluso drove in four runs and had a big double for Ooltewah. East Hamilton's Khaleel Marshall drove in a pair of runs and scored twice, while Jake Quinlan homered and drove in two.
* Signal Mountain 15, Red Bank 5: The Eagles received another dominant start from Sam Witherspoon who struck out 10 batters over five innings of one-run ball. Signal Mountain freshman Ben Timblin and seniors Braden Wolfard and Preston Worley all tripled in the District 6-AA road victory, which improved Josh Gandy's squad to 10-4 overall and 6-1 in league play. Carter Giles went 3-for-5 with two doubles and drove in three runs along with Wolfard and Worley. Red Bank's Maddox Vandergriff went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
* Walker Valley 6, Cleveland 1: Ben Smith was masterful on the mound allowing just one hit over seven innings in which he fanned eight batters and was not charged with an earned run. Ryan Lay led the way at the plate going 3-for-4 and knocking in three runs. Aiden Gibson also had two hits and scored twice along with Connor Crumley, while Daniel Denton stole two bases. The Mustangs (8-4) scored three in the first and another three in the seventh to back Smith's stellar outing.
* Sale Creek 10, Tellico Plains 0: Jared Elrod (2-for-4, 4 RBIs) and Drew Hillian (2-for-4, 3 RBIs) each doubled twice to lead the Panthers offense which has scored 96 runs over its current seven-game win streak. Braden Penny and Eli Buttram also had two hits and an RBI, while Penny scored three times. Penny also threw six shutout innings in which he struck out eight.
* South Pittsburg 12, Van Buren 2: The Pirates scored in all seven innings, pushing five across the plate in the first two innings for the District 5-A road win. Freshman Luke Rector allowed just one hit over five innings, striking out seven, to earn the win. Javen Talley drove in three runs, while Hunter Powers and Ryan Cagle each plated two and Cagle scored four runs.
SOFTBALL
* Sequatchie County 5, Cleveland 1: Cali Green went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs and also earned the pitching win, striking out five. Alexus Ferrell went 2 for 3 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs for the Lady Indians and Jesyca Dennis also went 2 for 3 with a double and run scored. Ashley Allen went 3 for 4 with a double and RBI for the Lady Blue Raiders.
