Prep roundup: Silverdale Academy continues to soar

After pitching a gem in Monday's victory, Turner Junkins showed off his bat to lead Silverdale Baptist Academy in Tuesday's 10-2 road victory over Notre Dame.

Lance Rorex's Seahawks (14-2-1) kept things rolling as Junkins and Bryson Cline each had three hits and combined for half of the Seahawks' runs batted in along with three doubles.

Sebastian Hanks escaped a fourth inning bases loaded jam for the visitors by snagging a line drive comebacker to turn a double play. Hanks did not allow an earned run in three innings of relief while Mason Jones earned the victory allowing one run over 3 1/3 innings.

Josh Deitch and Abraham Shull each had two hits for the Fighting Irish.

Silverdale's Brody Lamb had two hits and scored a pair of runs along with Brett Rogers who went 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs. Rogers is now 30-for-47 (.638) at the plate this season.

* Baylor 17, Chattanooga Christian 1: Jay Dill homered for the third game in a row and fourth in his last five. Henry Godbout and Carson Yates also homered for the Red Raiders.

* Sale Creek 8, Lookout Valley 1: Camden Penny had three hits while Eli Buttram drove in two for the Panthers who received a complete game performance from Jakob Elrod who allowed just one hit and struck out seven.

* Signal Mountain 21, Tyner 0: Braden Wolford drove in three runs while Ben Timblin and Ty Harper had two RBIs each for the Eagles. Hunter Davis and Carson Giles threw five no-hit innings and struck out 13.

* Northwest Whitfield 3, Ridgeland 1: Junior ace Cade Fisher won his eighth game without a loss with a one-hitter in the Region 7-AAAA game. Fisher did not allow an earned run while striking out 13. He has given up one earned run and 16 hits in 61 innings pitched with 131 strikeouts, a new school record. It is his fifth game this season of allowing one hit or fewer. Aiden Hosford went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Matt Redmond added an RBI and run for Northwest (19-6, 9-4).

* Ringgold 10, Adairsville 0: Kenyon Ransom allowed one hit and struck out five in four innings for the Tigers (18-6, 11-0) in the Region 6-AAA win. Ross Norman had two hits and drove in two runs, McCain Mangum was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Mason Parker had a pair of RBIs for the Tigers.

* Calhoun 1, Woodland 0 (11): The Yellow Jackets (15-6, 9-4) prevailed in the Region 7-AAAAA game as Braden Saunders drove in Barrett Saunders with a two-out run-scoring single. Hagan Banks worked the first nine innings for Calhoun, allowing three hits and striking out 17, with Bryse Ingle getting the win with two innings of hitless relief.

* Coahulla Creek 9, Murray County 0: Ben Glines pitched a three-hit, nine-strikeout shutout while also driving in two runs for the Colts (9-11, 8-3) in the Region 6-AAA game. Sam Reed was 4-for-4 with four RBIs and Trevor Headrick added two hits and scored twice for the winners, who remained in third place in the region.

* North Murray 9, Rockmart 1: Daniel Skojac allowed four hits and no earned runs in six innings, with Ty Kendrick getting two hits and driving in four runs, Spencer Chasteen adding two hits and an RBI and Cade Petty driving in two runs for the Mountaineers (7-16, 4-9 in 6-AAA).

* Cedartown 8, Southeast Whitfield 5: The Raiders lost despite scoring five runs in the seventh inning. Bryson Lofton drove in two runs and Jacob Gentry had two hits and an RBI for the Raiders.

* Hixson 16, East Ridge 0: Jacob Tobias doubled and tripled on his way to a four RBI performance. Russak struck out eight over three innings for the victory while Cade Shackleford also drove in four runs.

* Cleveland 7, Ooltewah 2: Hayden Sells drove in two while William Godwin tripled in a run and struck out nine over seven strong innings.

SOFTBALL

* Silverdale Baptist 18, Notre Dame 0: McCade Cooper and Bentlee Stiner kept the red hot bats going for the Lady Seahawks by homering and driving in three runs apiece. Senior Bre Sexton was sharp recording all nine of her outs by strikeout while not allowing a hit over three innings.

* Walker Valley 10, Cleveland 0: Lady Mustang ace Hailey Leslie returned to action with a dominant five inning shutout. Leslie also homered along with Sierra Brown who went 3-for-3 with six runs batted in.

* Soddy-Daisy 4, East Hamilton 1: Tatum Massengale drove in two key runs while Taylor Lloyd struck out a dozen, allowing just three hits in a complete game victory. East Hamilton's Syerra Rogers went 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

* Red Bank 12, Central 0: The Lady Lions broke free for nine runs in the first. Lexie Wright starred, hitting a double and triple while driving in four runs. Whitley Gann also went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs while Zoe Helms had two hits. Bailey Phillips struck out seven and only allowed one hit in three innings.

* Baylor 11, Chattanooga Christian 0: UTC signee Ace Sellers hit a grand slam, while Syd Berzon allowed one hit over five scoreless innings for the undefeated Lady Red Raiders. Cadashia Collins and Addi Yates had two hits and two runs apiece. Emily Matthews had the lone hit for CCS.

Marion County 7, Bledsoe County 3: Marion scored five runs in the sixth and collectd 12 total hits, led by Emma Tucker's 3-for-4 performance. Sara Muir earned the win, striking out 10.

TENNIS

* Notre Dame 7, Silverdale 0 (girls): The Lady Fighting Irish improved to 6-0 overall as Savina Jones impressed with an 8-2 singles victory while teamming up with Hannah Widerkehr for an 8-3 win in doubles. Charlotte Mahn and Morgan Hicks also won convincinly in doubles, 8-2.

* Silverdale Academy 5, Notre Dame 2 (boys): Kari Lam won his singles match 8-1 and teammed up with Aiden Standefer for an 8-2 doubles victory.

* McCallie 5, MBA 2: McCallie improved to 6-0 on the season as their trio of doubles teams came through in a big way on the road. Andreas Sillaste and Colin Tuttle won 8-6 as the No. 1 doubles seeding, while Will Leathers/Gabe Getz won 9-8 and Charlie Griffin/Henry Imorde won 8-6.
