Prep roundup: Boyd Buchanan boys show balance, firepower in win

The Boyd Buchanan boys' basketball team put forth an offensive spectacle Friday night in an 86-62 home victory over Chattanooga Christian School.

A balanced attack broke loose as six Buccaneers scored at least 11 points, and seven players combined for 12 of the game's 21 made 3-pointers.

Freshman guard Ace Bailey had 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for Boyd Buchanan (6-3), which scored at least 19 points in every quarter.

CCS was led by freshman Boo Carter's 23 points, and senior Tink Scott added 16.

Boyd Buchanan senior Caden Johnson had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Jacob Shockley added 13 points for the Bucs and John Craw, Karson Gay and Ryan Lopez had 11 apiece.

Polk County 50, McMinn Central 45: Tannar Patterson and Caleb Milen were a devastating combo for the Wildcats as they combined to score 38 points in Friday's District 5-AA home win.

Patterson led all with 21 points while Milen had 17 points, nine rebounds and five steals for Polk County (3-1, 1-1). McMinn Central was led by Carter Henderson's 16 points.

Heritage 47, Gordon Lee 27: Carson Palmer led the Generals (9-4) to the nonregion win Saturday with 12 points, with Kaden Swope and Cooper Terry adding eight each.

LaFayette 65, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 51: The Ramblers (7-0, 5-0 Region 6-AAA) overcame a hot start from the Warriors (7-3, 5-2) on Friday. LFO led 19-11 after the first quarter, but LaFayette soon took control behind Aidan Hadaway's 23 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots, 13 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks from DeCameron Porter, 14 points from Junior Barber and 10 points and eight assists from Jaylon Ramsey.

Cameron Gregg and Jamichael Davis led LFO with 12 points each, with Brent Bowman scoring 11.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Bradley Central 61, McMinn County 37: The Bearettes were propelled to their 85th straight win over a district opponent as they outscored the host Lady Cherokees 27-4 in the third quarter Thursday.

Bradley Central (8-1, 2-0 District 5-AAA) put on a passing clinic with 18 assists, including three from Sloan Carpenter (12 points, 4 3-pointers) in the third quarter. Hannah Jones had 21 points on 10-for-12 shooting, Anna Muhonen added 12 points and 12 rebounds and Carpenter scored 12 points, all on 3-pointers.

Addie Smith had 13 points and four steals for McMinn County.

CCS 44, Boyd Buchanan 32: The Lady Chargers found a groove on offense Friday, pouring in 17 points in the second quarter. Lily Brady scored nine points to pace CCS, and Aayannah Baird, Christal Collins and Lillie Lowe also played well for the Lady Chargers.

Boyd Buchanan was led by Yani Garner's 16 points.

Trion 47, Southeast Whitfield 23: The Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-3 with the nonregion win Saturday as Libby Brown led with 12 points, followed by I'ziah McCutchins with 10.

WRESTLING

Heritage won two duals Saturday at Model, defeating the hosts 42-34 and Darlington 60-16. Caymen Hughey (132 pounds), Garrett Pennington (145) and Zach Brown (220) each went 2-0 with two pins for the Generals, and Enrique Rodriguez (113) also went 2-0.
