A dream came true for John Rhodes as the former Chattanooga Christian School star was selected early in the third round of the MLB draft Monday afternoon. Rhodes was taken with the 76th overall selection by the Baltimore Orioles.

The University of Kentucky sophomore made 68 starts for the Wildcats in which he hit .294 with 25 doubles, 12 home runs, 55 runs batted in and eight stolen bases. As a senior in high school he hit .560 and stole 17 bases to go with 22 extra base hits for the Chargers.

Rhodes is just the ninth local player to ever be drafted in the top 100 picks.
