Prep roundup: Phillips leads Red Bank to 1-0 softball win over Sale Creek

Red Bank senior Bailee Phillips was instrumental in Monday's 1-0 softball victory over Sale Creek. Her fourth-inning home run provided the winning margin, and she also earned the pitching win, allowing four hits and striking out 10.

Lexie Wright also stood out for Red Bank, going 2-for-3 at the plate in the victory.

BASEBALL

South Pittsburg 9, Whitwell 3: Ryan Cagle went 2-for-3 with four RBIs to help South Pittsburg to the win. Jackson Lewis and Javen Talley each had two hits and an RBI apiece. Freshman Luke Rector earned the win, allowing three earned runs and striking out eight in five innings.

Sequatchie County 1, Marion County 0: A pitching duel was on full display between the Indians and Warriors. Bodie Terry earned a complete game victory, allowing just five hits over seven scoreless innings, striking out nine. Will Pryor was sharp for Marion County, allowing five hits with nine strikeouts over six innings. Senior Griffin Hall drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth and finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Walker Valley 5, Ooltewah 3: Ben Smith and Preston Hodges combined for 14 strikeouts and were backed by a late rally by the Mustangs, who scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Logan Wallace doubled and drove in two for Walker Valley. Ooltewah's Nate Huling and Andrew Merryman each had RBI hits for the Owls.

Signal Mountain 26, Howard 0: Hunter Davis hit a home run and drove in three runs as the Eagles delivered 17 hits. Carter Giles had three hits and a two-run double, while Braden Wolfard and Ty Harper each scored four runs. Sam Witherspoon picked up the win, striking out 11 over four no-hit innings while allowing one walk

Meigs County 6, Sweetwater 3: The Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first. Logan Carroll had three hits and picked up a save to secure a win for starting pitcher Will Meadows.

Hixson 9, Red Bank 2: Kane Johnson doubled and homered for the Wildcats, who were also led by Cameron Butler (2 RBIs) and Manny Velazquez (2-for-4, RBI). Jacob Tobias and Landon Roden combined for a no-hitter, striking out 13.

Notre Dame 3, Grace Academy 2: Notre Dame scored the winning run in the eighth inning on a passed ball. Caleb Adams went 2-for-4 with a run scored and double for Grace Academy. Alec Bouchard struck out 15 over seven strong innings for the Fighting Irish.

Silverdale Baptist 12, Boyd Buchanan 2: Sebastian Hanks homered and drove in four runs as the Seahawks improved to 8-0. Silverdale scored nine runs over the first two innings, while Brett Rogers stood out with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs. Turner Junkins picked up the win, allowing one run over four innings, striking out seven.

* Gordon Lee 10, Armuchee 2: Nate Dunfee went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Trojans (13-2, 5-0) to the Region 6-A public win. Cade Peterson added a two-run homer, Brodie Genter two hits, an RBI and run and Blake Rodgers an RBI and run scored.

* Trion 15-11, Drew Charter 0-1: Jase Mixson allowed one hit and struck out five in the three-inning game while also adding an RBI in game one. Jackson Morrison going 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Bulldogs (9-6, 6-3 in Region 6-A public). Brandon Dover was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Carter Conley 2-for-3 with an RBI and Dawson Brown drove in two and scored twice in game two.

* Sonoraville 16, North Murray 3: Hayden Holsomback hit a grand slam, drove in five runs and scored three times to lead the Phoenix (8-7, 3-3) in the Region 6-AAA contest. Cole Godfrey was 3-for-3 with three RBIS and three runs scored to back Devin Hackney, who went five innings and allowed an earned run and three hits.

* Dade County 13, Chattooga 3: The Wolverines (7-8, 4-1) rapped out 20 hits in the Region 7-AA win, with Brett Kay leading the way with four hits, driving in two runs. Landon Williams was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Eli Kimball 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs and Brayden Nethery 3-for-4.

SOFTBALL

* Grace Academy 10, Central 2: The Lady Eagles scored five runs in the third for the win. Lexie Otting drove in three runs while Ella Taylor Walden drove in two and scored a pair and Maddie McGaughey allowed two earned runs and struck out 11 for the win.

* Ooltewah 8, McMinn County 2: The Lady Owls built a 7-0 run through four innings on a 15-hit night in which Jaycee Holt, Alyssa White and Faith O'Donnell led the way with three hits apiece. Annalee Moore struck out 10 and earned the win.

* Boyd Buchanan 13, Van Buren 5: Presley Williamson went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs batted in while Izzy Messer, Brooke Watson and Kiley Elliott all tripled for the Lady Buccaneers, who scored seven runs in the second. Gracie Petty also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

* Lookout Valley 12, South Pittsburg 0: Ansley McBryan drove in four runs and Molly Mauldin was 4-for-5 with three runs scored.

* Marion County 5, Silverdale Baptist 4: Emma Tucker hit a walk-off home run in the eighth inning to lead the Lady Warriors.
