Junior ace Hailey Leslie is nearly a lock to give Walker Valley's softball team at least a fighting chance in every game she pitches. On Friday, she made sure the Lady Mustangs didn't have to fight too hard at the plate or in the field.

Leslie started the postseason by throwing a six-inning no-hitter as Walker Valley beat McMinn County 10-0 in the first round of the TSSAA District 5-AAA tournament.

Leslie has been a star for the Lady Mustangs (24-8) as she is now 16-3 with a 0.61 ERA (92 innings, eight earned runs) and 140 strikeouts this season.

Walker Valley senior Michelle Benson tripled twice and drove in four runs Friday, while Grace Martin homered and drove in two runs.

Soddy-Daisy 9, Bradley Central 3: The Lady Trojans broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth as Courtney Sneed had a two-run single and Taylor Lloyd capped the big inning with a two-run homer. Sneed drove in a game-high three runs and had a multihit day along with Hope Ingle, Tatum Massengale, Regan Rowan and Lloyd, who struck out 10 in relief for the victory.

Hixson 18, East Ridge 0: The Lady Wildcats had 17 hits, including three from Ari Neal, who was a home run shy of the cycle while batting in the leadoff spot. Jenna Griswold was 3-for-3 with two triples and drove in a game-high four runs, Meghan Kernea hit a three-run homer and Zoie Sullivan tripled twice and threw three scoreless innings. Ryleigh Quarles drove in three runs, while Diana Elsea added two RBIs and joined Morgan Delashmitt in having two hits.

Red Bank 15, Brainerd 0; Red Bank 10, Hixson 0: The Lady Lions advanced to the District 6-AA final by winning both games at Camp Jordan. Red Bank senior Bailee Phillips allowed three hits and struck out 18 batters over two games and now has 227 strikeouts this season. Red Bank's Taylor Bono had three hits and a pair of RBIs to help pull away from Hixson.

Sequatchie County 16, Cumberland County 0: Calie Green threw three scoreless innings and hit a home run, Megan Hall also homered, Addy Edgmon drove in three runs and Ella Edgmon stole her 40th base of the season and scored three runs for the Lady Indians (25-7) in their District 7-AA tournament victory at home.

BASEBALL

Sequatchie County 3, Cumberland County 1: Logan Potts and Bodie Terry led the way to victory in a District 7-AA tournament game. Potts went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and he also caught Terry, who struck out 12 while allowing just five hits and one walk in a complete game.

Sale Creek 12, Copper Basin 0: Senior Braden Penny threw a five-inning no-hitter in which he recorded 14 of his 15 outs by strikeout and threw 51 of 67 pitches for strikes. Drew Hillian sparked the offense with three RBIs, Camden Penny drove in two runs and Jakob Elrod had three hits for the Panthers, who scored eight runs in the top of the first.

Silverdale Baptist Academy 3, Grace Christian 1: The Seahawks started the Division II-A East Region tournament with a low-scoring victory as they scored all their runs in the bottom of the third. Cameron Mullins had a two-run single, and Brett Rogers drove in a run and stole a base. Turner Junkins had two hits and picked up the win, throwing one-hit ball with seven strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Grace 9, Silverdale 1: The Seahawks left nine runners on base in the game two loss to force another matchup in the Division II-A East Region series. Turner Junkins had two hits and Brett Rogers drove in Silverdale's lone run.

BOYS' SOCCER

Soddy-Daisy 2, East Ridge 1: Jensen Harbaugh and David Lopez scored, and stellar second-half defense was also vital for the Trojans (9-3-4), who were tied at 1 with the Pioneers at halftime at Camp Jordan. Caleb Pope had three saves for the winners.
