MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Red Bank and Sale Creek softball teams both helped their opponents far too much Wednesday in state tournament play, and each team paid the price with its first loss at this year's Spring Fling.

Red Bank committed three errors, opening the door to big innings for Lexington, which won 6-1 in the Class AA bracket. The Lady Lions also left seven runners on base, and only Lexie Wright had more than one hit.

Red Bank will next play Greenbrier in an elimination game at 2 p.m. Eastern on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Huntland struck for five runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth to beat Sale Creek 11-1 in the Class A bracket. Sale Creek helped Huntland with three consecutive walks with the bases loaded and was outhit 10-2.

The Lady Panthers will try to extend what has been an exciting postseason run when they face North Greene in an elimination matchup at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Sequatchie County 10, Union County 0: In Class AA, Cali Green allowed just one hit, striking out seven batters as the Lady Indians remained alive in the loser's bracket, advancing to face Gibbs at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. If Sequatchie County and Red Bank both advance, they would face each other at 5 on Thursday.

Addy Edgmon was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Ella Edgmon went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored and Jadeyn Girdley drove in two runs.

Silverdale Baptist 8, Jackson Christian 5: In Division II-A, McCade Cooper went the distance for the pitching win and was 2-for-4 at the plate as Silverdale Baptist avoided elimination. Breanna Sexton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Skylar Sheridan was 2-for-4 and drove in a run.

The Lady Seahawks will play Tipton-Rosemark at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the winner advancing to the championship series.
