Senior forward Fabian Rodriguez and the powerhouse Dalton Catamounts did not bat an eye despite being down 1-0 at halftime on the road against an undefeated Baylor squad.

After all, Matt Cheaves' nationally renowned program has only lost once over its last 42 matches.

Dalton, last year's GHSA Class AAAAAA champions, once again prevailed as Rodriguez keyed Monday's comeback 2-1 victory.

The explosive playmaker was able to score the equalizer in the 51st minute as Rodriguez won a battle against two defenders to hammer a score to the left side of the net. Then in the 71st minute Rodriguez slid a pass through the defense to Fernando Guerrero in the right side of the box for the game winning score.

"We really stayed together," said Rodriguez, whose older brother Damian plays for Chattanooga Football Club. "We passed the ball around well and we were able to get a big win. I have been playing with Fernando since we were little and I knew once I slid the ball through he would do the rest.

"This win means a lot to us. Baylor is one of the best teams we have played this year and to have a quality win over them to end our regular season is huge."

Dalton defenders Salvador Martinez and Jose Chavarria made crucial stops in the victory which brings the Catamounts record to 13-1-3 this season. Martinez made his first start ever for Dalton and helped hold down Baylor's star playmaker Gui Gragnano (12 goals this season).

Baylor (7-1) scored in the 25th minute as Aleksei Peltonen's 40-yard free kick sailed over a crowd, including Dalton's keeper, to bounce in front of the goal for Riley Shankle to knock in. Shankle found redemption just three minutes after his counter-attack score was called off due to an offside penalty.
