New Chattanooga Lookouts owner Jason Freier held a news conference Thursday to announce a new deck area beyond the left-field line at AT&T Field and a complete overhaul of the suite level.

The deck will allow fans to sit and watch from the foul area in left, where before they would have to stand.

"This will be a great area for fans to come in groups to sit and watch the game," Freier said, "and when they're not rented by groups, it will be an inviting social space. We really see this serving as an extension of the beer garden, which on a lot of nights can get very crowded.

"We believe this will make one of the most challenging places in the ballpark into one of the most popular overnight."

Each of the suites is being gutted and by opening day will have new carpet, new paint, new furniture and a larger flat-screen television set.

"After 15 years, the suites were showing their age," Freier said, "and we wanted to make sure we were providing a true luxury experience at the ballpark."

Lookouts general manager Rich Mozingo said rental fees for the suites will remain the same as last year.

Freier also announced that children will be able to run the bases after every home game, which has been a Sunday spectacle in recent years, and that Sundays now also would provide autograph opportunities. Every Thursday night will be "Thirsty Thursday" for adults, with drink specials beginning at $2.

The Lookouts also introduced FSG Bank as their presenting partner for the next three seasons.
