Thursday's recap: Birmingham scored three times in the second inning and twice in the fifth in front of a crowd of 5,768 at Birmingham. The Lookouts rallied late with two runs each in the seventh and eighth. Max Murphy had a run-scoring triple in the seventh and scored on Carlos Paulino's single. Paulino picked up another RBI when he walked in the eighth, and T.J. White scored when Ryan Walker hit into a force play. Tanner Banks (2-5), who was taken out with one out in the seventh, was the winning pitcher. He allowed five hits, two earned runs and one walk and had seven strikeouts. Kohl Stewart (5-6), who gave up seven hits, five earned runs and a walk in five innings while striking out six, took the loss. Jack Charleston pitched a perfect ninth for his third save.

Next up: Game two of a five-game series in Birmingham is tonight at 8:05 EDT.

Pitchers: Zack Littell (1-0, 5.40 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Michael Kopech (8-7, 3.04) scheduled for the Barons.
