Mississippi Braves down Lookouts 3-1

The Mississippi Braves scored two runs in the first inning Tuesday night and held on for a 3-1 Southern League win over the visiting Chattanooga Lookouts.

Following a leadoff double by Cristian Pache, the Braves scored on an Alejandro Salazar sacrifice fly to center field and a Travis Demeritte single to center, and that turned out to be enough.

Each team totaled six hits, and Chattanooga scored in the second inning when Zander Wiel's single to center brought Brian Navarreto home. Jaylin Davis was 2-for-3 in defeat, and Wiel was 2-for-4.

Pache was 2-f0r-4 with a run and an RBI for the Braves.

Game two of the five-game series at Pearl, Mississippi, is tonight at 8 EDT. Omar Bencomo (7-6, 3.63 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Ricardo Sanchez (1-4, 5.65) scheduled for the Braves.
