The Mississippi Braves beat the visiting Chattanooga Lookouts 1-0 and 10-7 in their Southern League doubleheader Saturday night in Pearl, Mississippi.

Chattanooga starting pitcher Sean Poppen allowed just three hits in the opening seven-inning game, but one of them was Travis Demeritte's home run to center field in the fourth inning that accounted for all the scoring. Mississippi starter Kyle Muller allowed five hits in seven scoreless innings in a game that took 92 minutes.

The second seven-inning contest was a different story, as the Lookouts and Braves combined for 17 runs on 24 hits. Jaylin Davis had a three-run home run for the Lookouts in the sixth inning, pulling them within 8-7, but Brent Rooker grounded out with the bases loaded to end the game.

Chattanooga dropped to 21-32 with 15 games remaining in the Southern League's second half and to 57-65 overall.

The Lookouts begin a five-game series in Montgomery, Alabama, tonight at 6:05 EDT.
