Lookouts win 4-1 over Jumbo Shrimp

Andy Wilkins went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run and Jimmy Kerrigan and Brent Rooker had RBI doubles as the Chattanooga Lookouts beat Jacksonville 4-1 Monday night in Southern League baseball at AT&T Field.

Chattanooga's final home game of the season will be tonight at 7:15 against the same Jumbo Shrimp. The Lookouts are 63-68 overall.

Jacksonville (52-78) managed nine hits against four pitchers - the Lookouts totaled six - but did not score until the ninth inning, on back-to-back doubles by Monte Harrison and Bryson Brigman. Omar Bencomo (8-6) pitched the third through seventh innings in relief of Casey Crosby and got the win with four strikeouts and five hits allowed, and Cody Stashak followed Devin Smeltzer with the last two outs for his fourth save.

Chattanooga scored two runs in the second inning, including Wilkins' one-out homer and Kerrigan's two-out double following a Jordan Gore single, and again in the seventh. Luke Raley led off that at-bat by being hit by a pitch, and Rooker doubled home and eventually scored on a two-out wild pitch with Wilkins at the plate.
