The Chattanooga Red Wolves Soccer Club added to its initial United Soccer League Division III (now known as League One) roster Tuesday with the announcement of the signing of defender Nicholas Amponsah.

Amponsah spent the past two seasons with the Jamaican Red Stripe Premier League's Montego Bay United Football Club, serving as central defender. He is the Red Wolves' third signee as coach Tim Hankinson continues to build the spine of his club, joining goalkeeper Greg Hartley and forward Eamon Zayed.

In 18 appearances last season with Montego Bay, Amponsah had three goals.

"Nicholas is an intelligent, composed central defender who reads the game extremely well," Hankinson said in a news release. "His technical ability and innate quickness out of the defending third makes him a strong addition to our roster."

Amponsah also spent three seasons with Adansi United FC, followed by captaining Ghananian division two team Achiken FC.

"It's a privilege to join Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in USL League One," Amponsah said. "I am grateful my effort was recognized, and I can't wait to get started with the team."
