A missed opportunity in the 72nd minute for the Chattanooga Red Wolves Soccer Club helped spark the Greenville Triumph SC to a 1-0 victory Saturday night at Legacy Early College in Greenville, South Carolina.
Second-half substitute Sito Seoane made a nifty first touch to get past two Greenville defenders, but his one-on-one shot from the center of the box went straight to the goalkeeper.
A strong transition ensued for the Triumph.
After Greenville's Carlos Gomez's goal in the 10th minute was waved off, the determined midfielder kept at it. Gomez broke down the right side of the goal line and fired a cross to Jake Keegan, who sped to the net to slide a shot into the back right amid heavy traffic.
Keegan's goal in the 73rd minute and second score in as many weeks provided the difference for Greenville (2-1), which was ranked third in the USL League One power rankings this past week.
Chattanooga (1-2) lost the battle of possession 57% to 43% and was outshot 11-5.
Red Wolves left back Vangjel Zguro's powerful cross from the left side was missed by Eamon Zayed in the 81st minute.
The Red Wolves will host first-place South Georgia Tormenta FC (2-0-1), which has allowed one goal this season, at 7 p.m. next Saturday.
