Touted Mississippi outfielder Cristian Pache homered for the second time in as many games as the Braves topped Chattanooga 5-3 Thursday night before an announced crowd of 5,420 at AT&T Field.
Pache's homer to left in the ninth inning capped the scoring as Mississippi sent the Lookouts to their fourth consecutive loss. Chattanooga (4-8) will try to avoid the series sweep in Friday night's 7:15 finale.
Thursday's game was deadlocked 1-1 entering the sixth, when a Drew Waters double to right scored Jonathan Morales and Garrison Schwartz to highlight a three-run outburst for the visitors. The Lookouts trimmed their 4-1 deficit to 4-3 during the seventh on Brantley Bell's two-run homer to left but could get no closer.
