Lookouts delayed by storm, routed by Barons

The Chattanooga Lookouts surrendered two runs in the first inning Saturday night and endured a lengthy weather delay in the second inning.

It didn't get any better from there.

Chattanooga's undefeated start to the Southern League's second half was brief, as the Lookouts dropped to 2-1 with an 11-2 shellacking at the hands of Birmingham before an announced AT&T Field crowd of 4,761. Inclement weather halted the game for an hour and 12 minutes.

The Barons took a 2-0 lead before the rain on a Luis Gonzalez double to left field that scored Luis Robert and Nick Madrigal. When play resumed, the Lookouts did get within 2-1 on a Mitch Nay single to center in the third inning that scored Chris Okey.

Birmingham broke free, however, with a four-run fourth inning that included Alfredo Gonzalez's RBI double to left, Laz Rivera's RBI single to center and Robert's two-run home run to center.

Robert went 3-for-6 with three RBIs to raise his average to .311.
