The Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves have hired former Chattanooga Football Club and Tennessee Wesleyan University soccer standout Luke Winter as their coach.

Lady Red Wolves SC general manager Gretchen Hammels announced the move Thursday.

Winter, who recently completed his fourth year as coach at his college alma mater, takes over the club ahead of the 2021 Women's Premier Soccer League season. After debuting in 2019, the Lady Red Wolves did not play in 2020 as the WPSL suspended competition amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Billy Sparks led the Lady Red Wolves to a 10-2-1 record, including 8-1-1 in the Southeast Conference, and a South Region semifinal appearance in 2019.

"My good friend Billy Sparks did a fantastic job with the team previously, and I have big shoes to fill," Winter said in a Lady Red Wolves release. "I am excited to work alongside Gretchen to continue the success that she and this team brings to Chattanooga soccer. The team is full of amazing players, and I look forward to getting to know them and work with them."
