Chattanooga FC women open return season with road loss

In their first match since 2018, the Chattanooga Football Club women lost 5-1 to the host Nashville Rhythm on Sunday night.

Brianna Smotherman, a former standout for Heritage High School in Ringgold, scored the first goal in the return season for the team, which competes in the Women's Premier Soccer League's South Region and Southeast Conference.

CFC's next match is against Alabama FC at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Friday in Birmingham. The home opener is against North Alabama on June 4 at Finley Stadium.
