Smokies rout Lookouts

Tennessee pounded out 17 hits and benefited from five Chattanooga errors in a 15-2 win that sends the Lookouts to their fourth consecutive defeat.

A fielding error on Lookouts left fielder Andrew Lambo enabled Tennessee to score a pair of first-inning runs off a sacrifice fly, and the Smokies made it 6-0 in the third on Jake Opitz's three-run home run to left.

They led 9-0 and were no-hitting the Lookouts (2-4) entering the seventh, when Elian Herrera singled to center, Trayvon Robinson tripled to center and Lucas May singled to left to account for Chattanooga's scoring.

Lookouts shortstop Dee Gordon, the top Los Angeles Dodgers prospect, had six hits in the last two games of the Huntsville series and was moved up to the leadoff spot Wednesday, but he went 0-for-4.

Game two of a five-game series at Tennessee is tonight at 7:15.

Alberto Bastardo (1-0, 1.80) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Jeremy Papelbon (0-0, 6.75) scheduled for the Smokies.
