On Tuesdays, HES does "Furry Tales Story Time" at 4 p.m. HES Furry Tales promotes critical thinking, empathy and perspective taking, a news release states. HES education and outreach manager Jeanine Cloyd reads aloud a story accompanied by a furry canine or feline friend. The story is followed by a fun activity kids can do at home.
On Thursdays, HES provides pet enrichment activities at 4 p.m. An HES representative shows you how to create cognitive, sensory, feeding and/or toy enrichment to do with your pet at home. The supplies needed are basic things you can find around the house, making this a weekly fun and easy project for both kids and pets.
"Keeping our dogs and cats in shape is an important part of pet wellness, but it's also crucial to provide them with mental stimulation and enrichment," the release states. "Many studies have shown that enriching an animal's environment improves the psychological and physical well-being of animals. Enrichment helps your pet live a longer, happier life and improves your bond."
