Johnny Weiss

ROCK SPRING Johnny Carl Weiss, 76, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at his residence.He had been a resident of North Georgia since 1973, moving here from Kankakee, Ill. He retired from Roper Corp. after 42 years. Mr. Weiss had been a member of Fort Oglethorpe United Methodist Church for 25 years where he was a Sunday school teacher, member of the finance committee, trustee, and a member of the choir. He was charming, smart, funny, and had a one of a kind sense of humor. He always had a witty comment just waiting to come out. His fiercely competitive side showed during card games with family and friends. John was athletic and loved golf. He attended several of The Masters in Atlanta and played courses across the country. Mr. Weiss was preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Ingram and Mary Jane Higgins.Survivors are wife, Shirley Weiss; sons, Kim (Brenda) Weiss, Illinois, Jason (Bridget) Weiss, Cartersville, Ga., Justin (Stacie) Weiss, Fredericksburg, Virginia and Chris (Jennifer) Gallaway, Chickamauga; daughters, Robin Bryant, Illinois, Joanna Weiss, Chattanooga, Kayla Gallaway Weiss, Rock Spring, Ga.; brothers, Mike Weiss and Stanley Weiss, both of Illinois; sisters, Donna Phillips, Darlene Barrix, Shirley Earnest, all of Illinois; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fort Oglethorpe United Methodist Church with Rev. Janice Keebler and Rev.
