Sr. Darrius Devontay Pulliam Townsend Sr., 17, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011, in a local hospital.He was a student at Brainerd High School where he was on the basketball team.He was preceded in death by his brother, Micheal Dewayne Robinson Jr.; grandfather, James Allen Pulliam; aunt, Valeria Denise Hines; grandparents, Fannie and Hubert Moss, Lonzie and Mahalia Marsh.Survivors include son, Darrius Devon'tay Townsend Jr.; father, Dameion Johnson Sr.; mother, Laronda Towsend; grandparents, Gloria Pulliam, Roy Townsend, Charlotte Johnson and Bobby Joe Cummings; great-grandparents, Mary Townsend, Wilbert and Judale Hines, all of Chattanooga and Eddie (Margaret) Townsend, of Texas; brother, Dameion Johnson Jr.; sisters, Britteny Pulliam, Teoshia Wooden, Mirah Johnson and Janhia Scott, all of Chattanooga; uncles, Mark Pulliam Townsend, Kemo Johnson, Laverise Townsend, all of Chattanooga and Edward (Louise) Pulliam, of Detroit, Mich.; aunts, Shaneka Pulliam, Gwendolyn Slay, Terrie Pulliam, Debra Townsend, Vivian Townsend, Gladys Bell, all of Chattanooga, Linda Senior and Evelyn Townsend, all of Detroit, Mich.; niece, Laaisha Ke'mijay Pulliam Hagger; a host of other relatives; very special friends, JaNesha Moore, Johnathan Jones, Marissa Parsons and many others. Funeral: at 11 a.m. Saturday at in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor J.W. Strickland officiating.Burial: Forest Hills Cemetery.The body will lie in state today after noon at the funeral home.
