Sullivan Lamar Fleming, 79, of Soddy-Daisy, went to be with his Lord on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011. Lamar had wonderful parents, Howard Sullivan Fleming and Ada Kathleen Williams Fleming which preceded him in death. He felt it was a duty and honor to serve his country in the U.S. Navy on the ship U.S.S. Sausalito PF4 and the U.S.S. Porterfield DD682 where he was a cook on both ships. His life work consisted of serving as Minister of Christian Education and worked with several churches in the southeast. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Soddy-Daisy where he was honored to serve as a deacon. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary "Fran" Frances Hixon Fleming; sister-in-laws, Norma Jean (Fred) Kilby and Nancy Ruth (Sam) Anderson; nieces, Debra (Bruce) Rogers, of Louisville, Ky., and Darlene Quattlebaum, of Seneca, S.C.; along with many cousins and great-nieces and nephews.Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Seton Tomyn and the Rev. James Sledge officiating. Burial will follow at National Cemetery with military honors. Members of the Koinonia Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Building Fund at First Baptist Church of Soddy-Daisy, P.O.
