Emma Tyner

Emma "Jean" L. Tyner, 96, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012. She was the widow of George B. Tyner and born June 30, 1916 in Tracy City, Tenn., to William and Malinda Pirtle.Mrs. Tyner was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ and an employee of CVS.She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Eugene, Henry, J.C., and Bill Ed; and sisters-in-law, Lucille; sister, Thelma Randles; and son-in-law, Wallace Shields.She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Shields; grandson, Keith Goforth; great granddaughter, Natasha Sheree Goforth; great-great grandchildren, Summer and Dayton, all of Dalton, Ga.; brothers, Raymond Pirtle, of Chattanooga, Kenneth (Imogene) Pirtle, of Ringgold, Ga., Gene (Faye) Pirtle, of Fairhope, Ala., and Jimmy (Margaret) Pirtle, of Tracy City; sister, Edna Alderson, of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday July 10, and 12 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday July 11, at the funeral home.Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at the funeral home with Minister Perry Hurst officiating.Private burial services will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson, Tenn.Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist. 404 South Moore Road.
