Lillian Humphreys

Lillian Cook Humphreys, 85, longtime resident of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012.She was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church. After a long career as a home economist, she retired from Chattanooga Gas Co. Her career highlights include teaching Home Economics at Kirkman High School and Chattanooga State. She was active in many civic organizations and was featured in Helen Exum's Chattanooga Cookbook.She was preceded in death by her first husband, George F. Cook.Survivors include her husband, Bill Humphreys; daughters, Carole Moss (Mark Grimsley, MD) and Jan (Marvin) Martin; granddaughters, Angela Carroll Ast and Jennifer Martin; grandson, J. R. Martin; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Violet King, of Humboldt, Tenn. and Dollie (Roy) Neal, of Coral Gables, Fla.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace.Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.Visit www.lanefh.com to share condolences.Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace.
