Gertrude NaysonLaFAYETTE Gertrude Lillian Waltz Nayson, 93, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.Gertrude was born July 12, 1919 in Cherokee County Ala. She was a member of Chattooga Baptist Church.Preceded in death by her husband, Tavner W. Nayson of which she was married to for 50 years; parents, Oscar and Nancy Waltz; brother, Holbert Waltz; sister, Dorthea Waltz and Ruth Waltz Jackson Yarbrough.She was a loving mother and grandmother. She retired from textile work after more than 35 years. After retirement she spent her time helping her husband on the farm and taking care of her aging mother and baby sat her grandchildren.She is survived by her son, Tavner Richard Nayson and wife, Beth, of LaFayette; sister, Joan Waltz Harmon Leath; grandchildren, Mary Nayson Kirby, Charlotte Nayson and Henry Nayson; great-granchildren, Ashley Kirby, Abigail Kirby, Jace Cromer and Dawson Cromer; four nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. The family would like to thank the members of the church for assisting Gertrude in the task that she no longer could do. Special thanks to Hugh and Nancy Wilson.Funeral from the Wallis Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m. Sunday. Service conducted by Dr. William Swanson.Interment in LaFayette Memory Gardens.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.The arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, of LaFayette.
