Herman Parris

ROSSVILLE Herman Lamar Parris, 77, went home to bewith his Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012.He had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas for most of his life and was of the Nazarene faith. He was an Air Force Veteran and was also a truck driver for more than 40 years.He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Verla Mae Parris; wife, Willodene Parris; and two brothers, Tommy and Gene Parris.Survivors include his loving wife of more than 13 years, Louise Woodson Parris, of Rossville; daughter, Tammie Smith, of Ringgold, Ga.; four stepchildren, Rick Collins, of Jasper, Ga., Debbie Collins, of Red Bank, Steve Collins, of Dalton, Ga., and Jannette Collins, of Harrison; two grandchildren, Braxton and Gracie Smith; several step-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Josh Site officiating.Burial will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.The family will begin receiving friends after noon today and prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
