Joseph Rotureau

Joseph Lawrence Rotureau Sr., 84, went to be with his risen savior Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, in Chattanooga, following an extended illness.The Savannah, Ga., native was born Nov. 7, 1927. He was the son of the late Albert Rotureau Sr. and the late Leta Williams Rotureau of Thunderbolt, Ga. Mr. Rotureau was a 1946 graduate of Savannah High School and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hixson. He was a retired chemist with the Norfolk Southern Railroad following 39 years of service. He previously served his country as Corporal in the United States Army where he served in Japan with the 600th Air Engineer Squadron. He was a member of the Exchange Club. He cherished his family, and so dearly loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, fishing, photography and spending time with family and friends.Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Bertie Barnes Rotureau, of Chattanooga; daughter, (Tom) Jane Robertson, of Cleveland, Tenn.; son, Joseph (Vicki) Rotureau Jr., of Guyton, Ga.; granddaughters, Kate Robertson of Nashville and Carey and Anne Louise Robertson, of Cleveland; grandsons, Jonathan and James Rotureau, of Guyton; and many nieces and nephews of the Savannah area.He was also preceded in death by his brothers Albert Jr. "Snookie", Freddie and Danny Rotureau.Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hixson.
