Elizabeth Harriett Montgomery Jackson, 89, passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Rome, Ga. She was born in Chattanooga, on Jan. 23, 1923 to Edgar and Pearl Montgomery. A graduate of Howard High School, Elizabeth recently resided in Rome, Ga.She was an active member of Wiley Memorial UM Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir and served on the Hospitality Board.She was the club mother for the Dukes Social Club and parent officer booster for the Riverside High School Band.She was preceded by brothers, Edgar, Frank and Leon Montgomery.Survivors include her son, Samuel L. (LaTanya) Jackson; granddaughter, Zoe; two sisters, Frances Miller and Edna (Frank) Eldridge; sister-in-law, Tommye Montgomery; nieces, Wanda Jones, Angela and Stephanie Montgomery; nephews, Edgar (Diane) Montgomery Jr., DeWayne (Lidia) Eldridge; other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct, 27, 2012 at Bethlehem-Wiley UMC with Rev. Elston D. McLain officiating.Interment at 11 a.m. Forest Hills Cemetery on Sunday, Oct.28, 2012.The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
