Violet Rogers

Anita RogersViolet Anita Crabtree Rogers, 95, of Chattanooga passed away, Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 in a local healthcare facility.She was born near Sweetwater, Tenn., in 1916 to the late Hugh and Rhoda Jane Crabtree. She met her husband, the late David Bunyan Rogers in Athens, Tenn. During the World War II years they lived in San Francisco, Calif., later moving to Detroit, Mich., where she worked at the J. L. Hudson Department Store and then to Chattanooga where she retired from The Cricket Shop in Eastgate Mall. She lived in Atlanta for 20 years before moving back to Chattanooga to be near her family.She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Iva Holt and Dorothy Burger and brother, William Horace Crabtree.Survivors include her son, David Michael Rogers and daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn Rogers, of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.comGraveside services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
