Jr.CHICKAMAUGA H. Doyle Merciers Jr., 65, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at his home.He retired from Wrigleys Manufacturing and U.S. Pipe-Soil Pipe Division and was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Ridgedale Masonic Lodge and was of the Church of God faith. He was a die-hard Georgia Bulldogs fan and loved hunting, classic cars and his work shop.He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Doyle Merciers Sr.; mother, Georgia Kathryn Pruitt; and son, Philip Lee Merciers.He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbie Merciers; children, Christy Minchew Mooney, Crestview, Fla., C. Todd (Becky) Minchew, Pikeville, N.C., Jason Merciers, Chickamauga, Ga., and Jennifer Merciers (Jon) Phillips, Ringgold, Ga.; stepmother, Ionie Merciers, Higdon, Ala.; grandchildren, Savannah Phillips, Elijah Merciers, Mikalia Merciers, Tristan Mooney, Devin Minchew, Ashlyn Hollaway, Koren Minchew, Nicholas Merciers, Josh Merciers, Brett Merciers and Alex Merciers; siblings, Richard (Mary) Merciers, Chickamauga, Ga., Tim Merciers, Higdon, Ala., Stephen (Nancy) Merciers, Ider, Ala., Robert (Anita) Merciers, Rossville, and April (Steven) Rayburn, Surprise, Ariz.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Edmund Stallings and Rev. Jack Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Chickamauga City Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted. Jason Merciers, Todd Minchew, Jon Phillips, Sr., Matt Weitz, Joey Minnis, Josh Hayes and Jon Phillips will serve as pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
