Opal Plank

Opal Arbutus Plank, 92, of Signal Mountain, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Hannah Rutherford; husband, James Orville Plank; brothers, Charles Velton, James Hubert, Eugene, and J.L. Rutherford; and a sister, Dorothy Thacker. Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Maurice) Payne, of Ringgold, Ga., Nancy Dempsey, of Signal Mountain; sons, Jackie (Betty) Plank, of Dunlap, Tenn., David (Joy) Plank and Randy (Trisha) Plank, both of Signal Mountain; one sister, Ruby (Grady) Carroll, of Okeechobee, Fla.; one brother, Luther Ray (Carolyn) Rutherford, of Chattanooga; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews along with her Church Family at Timesville Avenue Baptist Church, where she was one of the founding members. Services will be noon Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Timesville Avenue Baptist Church, with Brother Jonathan Milligan officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. to noon Friday. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery on Signal Mountain. Visitation is noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.
